Specialized positions for nurses are available in Skilled Nursing at Washington Odd Fellows Home in Walla Walla.  Fulltime day shift openings, Mondays through Fridays.  Specialties include (1) Quality Assurance and (2) Clinical Nurse Manager.  

Hourly wage of $37.00 and we currently offer a $15,000 hire-on bonus for full-time Nurses.

Our nurses work closely with our residents, NAC staff, Medical Director, and our Rehab Team. Will initial care plan updates on an on-going basis and attend Care Conferences.  Must appreciate, and be capable of, working as an integrative team member.

Skilled Nursing has many opportunities for using best practice in situations which require critical thinking and technical skills.

Quality Assurance Nurse:

Will report to the Director of Nursing and be responsible for the following: 

  • Ensures adherence to Department of Public Health and CMS standards across Care Centers by remaining up to date on relevant standards, conducting staff training in conjunction with clinical leadership, developing protocols and procedures as needed, and performing intermittent chart reviews and audits at clinical sites
  • Trains staff across various departments as needed on quality assurance and regulatory related issues
  • Works with nurse managers across clinical departments to ensure regular clinical competency verification of nursing staff
  • Champions the quality assurance meeting reporting to improve uptake and use among clinical staff while creating a “just culture” to ensure staff feel safe reporting adverse and near-miss events
  • Conducts Root Cause Analyses for clinical adverse events and near miss events; develops action plans to reduce risk of recurrence; follows the progress of these action plans
  • Identifies areas of potential risk and develops systems within the organization to minimize risk of adverse events or negative quality outcomes
  • Works with Medical Director and Director of other nursing leadership on high priority clinical quality improvement projects
  • Works collaboratively with medical, nursing, and administrative leadership across clinical departments
  • Performs other duties as requested by leadership team

Clinical Nurse Manager:

Will report to the Director of Nursing and be responsible for the following: 

* Resident assessments, including the skin and wound portion of the MDS.

* Coordinate the rehab, toileting, pressure ulcer preventions and restorative nursing needs of residents. 

* Initiate Care Plans, Assessments and QCS.

* Oversight of wound care programs and coordination of services with providers, to include:

  • Cleaning wounds to eliminate bacteria and debris and reduce infection risk.
  • Choosing the best treatment for a wound like regular cleaning, antibiotics, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or surgery.
  • Bandaging the wounds by creating a barrier against microorganisms and changing the dressings regularly.
  • Collaborating with other resident care team members to decide the need for any additional therapies or adjuvant care.
  • Educating residents and caregivers on how to manage and dress wounds to aid healing following surgery.
  • Providing infection and injury prevention and pressure ulcer (bed sore) care education to residents and caregivers.
  • Writing orders to accelerate wound healing and prevent skin disintegration.
  • Completing forms for resident records and communicating with wound care physicians, primary care physicians and other members of the care team.

* Coordinate Rehab services and obtain orders for OT/PT

* Coordinate medical equipment needs of the residents.

* Accurate completion of Incident Reports with the goal of implementing preventive strategies to decrease recurrence.

* Implement safety alarms.

* Blood draws as needed and INR, and daily check-in with charge for urgent needs that require an extra set of “hands on board.”
